It all started a few years ago, when Peter and Joanna attended a heart wrenching sermon about foster care by the organization 4KIDS. They were shocked to hear how many kids in South Florida are removed from their homes on a daily basis, due to abuse or neglect. Their hearts suddenly became heavy and felt the need to lend a helping hand. After several weeks of thinking it over and praying about it, they made the courageous decision to become foster parents. Peter and Joanna knew the journey ahead of them would be challenging, but they were willing to take the plunge in making a difference in a child’s life.
On March 26, 2012, Peter and Joanna received a call that would change their life forever. The voice on the other end said, “We have a child in need of a home.” Without hesitation and not knowing what age, gender, or name, Joanna rushed to pick up the child. When she arrived, she was greeted by a 10 month old baby boy named Nicholas. From that moment on, Peter and Joanna showered Nicholas with love and affection and treated him as their own.
Three years after taking Nicholas under their wings, Peter and Joanna’s prayers were answered and they were given the opportunity to legally adopt him. They decided on changing Nicholas’s name to his new heritage – Peruvian, Italian, and German.
Nicholas officially became part of the Osterberger family on July 10, 2015. The following day, the family threw a big celebration with the help of Rent My Wedding. The inside of the house was decorated with 6 blue uplights, that illuminated from floor to ceiling and 2 custom gobo lights for the walls.
The backyard rentals included 50 chair covers, 14 wireless uplights and 1 gobo light for the pool. Once the sun went down, the uplighting and gobo light completely transformed the pool area.
What a special way to celebrate a memorable, cherished moment! We wish Nicolas a happy and joyous life with his loving family.
Forever an Osterberger
